The City of Port St. Lucie is located halfway between Miami and Orlando on the east coast of Florida and is 120 square miles in size with a population of approximately 175,000 residents. Port St. Lucie is Florida's 9th largest city by population and the spring training and minor league home of the New York Mets.

The Port St. Lucie Police Department is staffed with 229 sworn police officers and a civilian staff of 66 full-time employees, who are committed to providing superior customer service and remaining one of America's safest cities. In 2015, the police department answered 90,000 calls for police service, while maintaining the lowest crime rate in Florida for cities with a population over 100,000 residents.
